Datacentre Operational Team of the Year In December 2009, Computacenter won the award for Datacenter Operational Team of the Year at the prestigious Datacenter Leaders Awards 09 event in London, UK.

With previous winners including BSkyB and Morgan Stanley, the nine people strong Computacenter datacenter migration team was recognised for the outstanding job they did of moving 18 customers from an end of life datacenter in Warrington to our new, high availability facility in Manchester. The project ran over seven weeks, achieved 100% positive customer feedback and no instances of post migration disruption or failures.

Summary of the award criteria:

'People' have long been the silent asset of the data centre. For every one paper or article on people management in and around the data centre there are probably many hundreds on the technologies and solutions they will be responsible for. Much of what happens inside the data centre depends upon the people charged with design, operation and management and since the data centre professional is rarely working in isolation, this places an added premium upon the capability of the data centre operator to develop, manage and motivate effective teams to carry the operation forward.
