Hertford Regional College reduces risk with Windows 7 upgrade
As a leader in vocational education, Hertford Regional College (HRC) needs to provide its students with access to the same technologies that they will use in the workplace. When it decided to upgrade its 650 student desktop computers to Windows 7, it needed an experienced partner to ensure the project was completed by the beginning of the new term.
HRC partnered with Computacenter to prepare for the platform migration, which involved ensuring its 150 applications were compatible with the new operating system. The joint project team then used Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to centrally deploy Windows 7 across the college’s two campuses in just four weeks.
Following the successful migration to Windows 7, HRC now has a more stable, future-proofed and environmentally friendly desktop environment that supports increased collaboration. By providing students with an enhanced computing experience, HRC can minimise the risk of data loss and disruption to online tests and maximise their chances of career success.
East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust
Hospitals in East Kent improve medical training and patient care with integrated video-conferencing solution.
The trust partnered with Computacenter to design, implement and support a sophisticated video-conferencing solution. The solution installed at the trust’s three acute hospitals includes high-definition displays to enable clinicians to share images from the hospital’s PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) such as x-rays and scans. By enabling its healthcare professionals to hold virtual meetings and share medical information, East Kent University NHS Foundation Trust has reduced travel costs and its impact on the environment. More importantly, the solution enables faster diagnosis and treatment of patients, and improves mentoring and training for medical staff. Computacenter supports Bentley Motors' IT services
Bentley Motors - the Crewe, UK, based manufacturer of luxury cars, has out-tasked a range of key IT services to Computacenter, including support for its 3,600 desktops and laptops, Unix, Windows and IBM iSeries servers and local area network. A central service desk deals with incident, changes and problems while Computacenter’s Services Operations Centre provides round-the-clock network and server monitoring. Computacenter will also assist Bentley with a number of IT projects, such as automated server provisioning, that will increase efficiency and lower costs.
Bentley has been able to significantly improve IT support services, resulting in greater end-user satisfaction and enhanced staff productivity. Automation and standardisation enables the company to optimise its IT support costs, with a guaranteed year-on-year cost saving agreed as part of the partnership with Computacenter. Most importantly, Bentley can ensure its staff have continuous access to the business-critical IT systems that they need, minimising the risk of disruption to car design, manufacturing and after-sales care.
Visa Europe talks about the power of a united partnership
Computacenter is responsible for the strategy, provision and support of Visa's corporate workplace technology. This includes major incident, problem and request management for approximately 2,000 Visa staff across Europe.
